Many of us search online to find information about cell phone numbers. We may want to spy on a crush, locate a lost friend, or drive to a prankster's house. We may also want associated business information for reporting or other purposes.
Unfortunately, this information is rarely available for free. Unlike phone books of the past, you can't simply 'lookup' cellular numbers in your local directory. Strict privacy regulations from both industry and government prevent this – mainly for the purpose of reducing minutes lost to telemarketers.
Cell phone companies, however, are not the only source for information. While their databases do contain the billing address of a customer's service plan, these can be outdated or even different than the primary residence.
Searching public records is the best place to find accurate, up to date information regarding the name and living address associated with a person's cell phone number. Held by governments, private institutions, and businesses everywhere, these records actually contain much more information, including a person's background, financial status, court history, even their family history.
But searching public records – even with the advent of the Internet – is not easy. Those of us who've searched previously are all too familiar with just how fast the hours past. Major search engines return millions of results, most of which do not provide us with the answers we seek.
So where can we turn? There are websites which collect information in the public domain, and from their own confidential sources, and make it available for searching quickly. These sites offer all the identifying information we might need to score a new crush or ban the latest illegitimate telemarketer to call our cell phone. Unfortunately, they do charge small fees for their operating costs. However, these fees include unlimited phone number searches, live help, and the option to recuperate costs if info is unavailable.
In addition to a current primary address, public records often contain a complete picture of previous residence history. Secondary residences are also often listed, as these get collected for marketing purposes. So if a person at first appears inaccessible, it turns out they may be easier to find than it first seems.
